KMUTNB Signs MOU with Leading Chinese Technology Company to Advance AI, Semiconductor and Smart Medical Technologies, Strengthen Talent Development, and Drive Thailand’s Future Industries
King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) has strengthened its international network of cooperation in science, technology, and innovation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Zhejiang Yansuan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (Y Seven AI), a leading technology company from the People’s Republic of China. The cooperation aims to advance Artificial Intelligence (AI), semiconductor technology, medical devices and instrumentation, electric vehicles, industrial automation, and advanced human capital development, supporting Thailand’s targeted industries and the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), a key mechanism for enhancing the country’s competitiveness on the global stage.
The MOU signing ceremony was held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Techno Park Building, KMUTNB Rayong Campus. The ceremony was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Teravuti Boonyasopon, Chairman of the KMUTNB Council Committee, and Mr. Kitti Kieatmontri, Deputy Chief Executive of the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization, representing Dr. Piya Pitutecha, Chief Executive of the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization.
The MOU was signed by Prof. Dr. Thanin Silpcharu, President of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, and Mr. Wang Bin, Chairman of Zhejiang Yansuan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., together with Dr. Chen Xianjun, Chief Executive Officer of Zhejiang Yansuan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. The ceremony was witnessed by Mr. John Chen, Chairman of Guoxin Huatai Co., Ltd. and representative of Huawei University, senior executives from KMUTNB, representatives of the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization, government agencies, the industrial sector, and organizations involved in Thailand’s economic development, as well as executives from leading organizations in the People’s Republic of China, including Zhejiang Yansuan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., China Culture Promotion Association Co., Ltd., Guoxin Huatai Co., Ltd., and China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology Co., Ltd.
A key focus of the cooperation is the establishment and development of an AI Center in Medical Devices and Instrumentation at KMUTNB. The center is envisioned as a hub for advanced research, technology development, and technology transfer, covering research and innovation, the establishment of joint research laboratories, curriculum and knowledge development, and the establishment of joint training centers in AI and semiconductor technologies. The initiative also aims to develop highly skilled and competent human resources to meet the evolving demands of industries in Thailand and internationally.
The MOU also provides a framework for broader collaboration to develop a Thai–Chinese innovation ecosystem through joint research and development, technology transfer and commercialization, startup and deep-tech venture incubation, the development of joint curricula in science and technology, the establishment of innovation funding mechanisms, and academic exchanges involving students, researchers, and faculty members. Both parties also intend to promote advanced technology investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), contributing to Thailand’s competitiveness and creating greater value for the country’s innovation-driven economy.
In addition, the cooperation is expected to support the development of future-focused industries, including smart medicine and public health, artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, electric vehicles and automation, advanced manufacturing, new alternative energy, smart robotics, aerospace and aviation technology, and smart agriculture. The collaboration will also promote the development of highly skilled personnel to support targeted industries, particularly those located in the EEC.
Prior to the signing ceremony, executives from Zhejiang Yansuan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., together with representatives from China Culture Promotion Association Co., Ltd., Guoxin Huatai Co., Ltd., and China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology Co., Ltd., visited the Research and Human Resource Training Center for Industry (RTCI), Rayong Province. The visit provided an opportunity to explore KMUTNB’s capabilities in research, development, and advanced technology, including the Smart Factory 4.0 laboratory, collaborative robots, electric vehicle technologies, and industrial automation systems. The delegation also observed the progress of the Smart Automotive and Digital Innovation Standard Laboratory Building project, which will serve as important infrastructure for research, technology development, and future investment in advanced industries.
The signing of this MOU marks another significant step for King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok in strengthening its international partnerships with leading technology companies and the industrial sector. It reaffirms KMUTNB’s role as a leading institution in science, technology, and innovation, committed to developing highly skilled human resources, advancing research and innovation, and fostering strong connections among academia, government, and industry. Through strategic international collaboration, KMUTNB aims to contribute to Thailand’s transition toward an innovation-driven economy, enhance national competitiveness, and support sustainable growth in the country’s industries of the future.
