KMUTNB LAUNCHES EV ENGINEERING EXCELLENCE CENTER AT INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY COLLEGE
Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Suchart Siengchin, President of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Center of Excellence in Modern Electric Vehicle (EV) Engineering Technology, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samit Songpiriyakit, Dean of the College of Industrial Technology sent the guests a welcome message.
The primary purpose of the new Center of Excellence is to serve as a hub to foster employee growth and professional development, as well as to provide support on research and development, along with learning and innovation relating to the trend of the EV industry in Thailand. We have a driving ambition to support the country to step towards the future of the automotive industry, and thus become ready to embrace sustainability transition at the international level.
The project initiation emerged as a result of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation’s policy for manpower development that corresponds to the existing growth rate of Thailand’s EV industry. KMUTNB has responded to this policy by signing an academic cooperation agreement earlier this year with 2 companies of China: BYD Co., Ltd. and FXB Co., Ltd. We purpose to further develop modern electric vehicle technology, specifically to provide teaching and training for engineering students, for technology personnel and technicians in line with the requirements of EV manufacturing and Automation industry. These sectors have encountered a critical shortage of EV skilled workers, in particular practical engineers and technicians. Thus, we aim to produce graduates with employability skills in modern EV industry. In so doing, we can stay up-to-date to changes in the automotive sector in the digital era.
Taking place on December 16, 2024, the official open ceremony of the Center of Excellence in Modern EV Engineering Technology was honored by Prof. Dr. Teravuti Boonyasopon, Chairman of KMUTNB Council Committee along with Mr.Wang Yubiao, CEO of FXB and Dr. Panpermsak Arunee, the Head of Strategy Administration Division and Acting Advisor for the Development at the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI).
Based on KMUTNB’s positive vision of future technological developments, the new Center of Excellence has been founded to maximize the potential of engineering personnel and to foster the develpment of Thailand’s EV industry to steer towards the global growth. We strive to continue to actively expand knowledge and research skills for further understanding in a range of topics in accordance with the national policy, some of which include industrial safety, automatic control, alternative energy and pollution mitigation measures to achieve environmental sustainability.
