ICOME2024 Conference Marks Milestones for the Cooperation between KMUTNB and France

During 30 – 31 October 2024, the 2024 International Conference on Materials and Energy (ICOME2024) was held at Avani Ratchada Bangkok Hotel, co-organized by King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) and Université de Lorraine (UL), France. This collaborative event celebrated two notable milestones: the 65th founding anniversary of KMUTNB and the 34th anniversary of the Thai-French Innovation Institute, reflecting the rich history and enduring partnership between KMUTNB and France.

The opening ceremony was co-presided over by H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Ambassador of France to Thailand, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Suchart Siengchin, KMUTNB President, and Prof. Dr. Karl Tombre, Vice-President for European and International Strategy of Université de Lorraine. The conference's keynote speakers included Prof. Bruno Douine from Université de Lorraine, Prof. Gnanamoorthy from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, and Prof. Surin Khomfoi from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang.

For the first time, the ICOME conference was held in Thailand, drawing over 140 research contributions from 21 countries worldwide. ICOME2024 was dedicated to advancing cutting-edge research and exploring new horizons of knowledge at the intersection of materials and energy applications. Both fields are increasingly important in addressing global challenges. In the effort to mitigate climate change and preserve the environment for future generations, the development of green energy and new technologies is crucial and plays a vital role. The success of this conference demonstrated KMUTNB's and UL's shared commitment to advancing research and innovation for a sustainable future.

On 1 November 2024, ICOME2024 participants also visited KMUTNB's Techno Park, Thai-French Innovation Institute (TFII), and Science and Technology Research Institute (STRI). They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr. Somrek Chandra-ambhorn, Vice President for Research and Information Technology Development, Asst. Prof. Dr. Pornsak Srisungsitthisunti, Director of TFII, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Nophadon Wiwatcharagoses, Deputy Director of KMUTNB Techno Park.
