KMUTNB and SP Host Successful 2024 Learning Express Collaboration Program

During 2 – 12 March 2024, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) and Singapore Polytechnic (SP) co-organized the 2024 Learning Express (LeX) KMUTNB-SP Collaboration Program at KMUTNB. This program was the latest cooperative project of the two institutions, aiming to promote design thinking skills among the participants by providing a platform for them to design innovative solutions for problems faced by the local people of Koh Kret Island in Nontaburi Province. Throughout the program, participants engaged in activities such as visiting and interviewing local residents at Koh Kret to explore potential solutions for local issues, which also enhanced their empathic skills. Furthermore, the participants visited Ayutthaya Historical Park on the final day of the program, providing a great opportunity for the SP participants to immerse themselves in Thai culture.


The program’s opening ceremony on 2 March 2024 was presided over by Asst. Prof. Dr. Peerapong Pornwongthong, Assistant to the President for Innovation Research and Development, while the closing ceremony and gallery walk was presided over by Mr. Pirom Chumnum, Chief District Officer of Pak Kret District. The six groups of project participants presented their innovative ideas and prototypes to the audience, focusing on the promotion of local tourism and the development of local products. The event was also attended by distinguished guests, such as Prof. Dr. Somrerk Chandra-ambhorn, Vice President for Research and Information Technology Development, Ms. Sikan Kulchonchan, Vice President for International Affairs, representatives from the business sector, and the Koh Kret community.


The long-standing partnership between KMUTNB and SP dates back to 2018 when the first MoU between the two institutions was signed. Over the past six years, the partnership between KMUTNB and SP has been very productive and fruitful. The two institutions have collaborated on various projects that have been beneficial to both students and faculty members, especially the organization of LeX programs in 2018, 2019, 2024, and the KMUTNB x SP TF-SCALE program in 2023.
