KMUTNB Welcomes Ambassador of Nepal to Thailand for Discussions on Academic Cooperation

On 24 March 2023, H.E. Mr. Ganesh Prasad Dhakal, Ambassador of Nepal to Thailand, and Mr. Lekh Nath Gautam, Deputy Chief of Mission, visited King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) to strengthen the academic ties between Nepal and Thailand. They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Suchart Siengchin, President of KMUTNB, Prof. Dr. Somrerk Chandra-ambhorn, Vice President for Research and Information Technology Development, and Ms. Sikan Kulchonchan, Vice President for International Affairs.

During the visit, the Ambassador had a meeting with the team of KMUTNB executives, where they discussed potential areas of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and research. Dr. Phongsatorn Saisutjarit, Acting Director of International Institute of Space Technology for Economic Development (INSTEAD), presented a brief report about the achievement and progress of ongoing cooperative activities between INSTEAD and Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST).

In addition, KMUTNB granted tuition fee waiver scholarships to Nepalese students to study at the Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering, International College, and Faculty of Information Technology and Digital Innovation. The Scholarship Offer Letters were presented to the Ambassador of Nepal to Thailand by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kittichai Thanasupsin, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, and Asst. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sunantha Sodsee, Dean of Faculty of Information Technology and Digital Innovation.

The scholarships are aimed at promoting academic exchanges between Nepal and Thailand and providing opportunities for Nepalese students to gain international experience and pursue their higher education goals. The visit of the Ambassador of Nepal to Thailand and the granting of scholarships to Nepalese students at KMUTNB marks a significant step forward in the academic partnership between Nepal and Thailand and strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
